Management Accountant, Anthem

We have an opportunity for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Management Accountant to join the finance team at our head office.

Location: Reading - with temporary remote working due to COVID-19
Salary range: £34,788 - £37,489 FTE, £20,685 to £22,291 pro rata
Hours: 22 hours per week, 52 weeks per year
Contract type: Permanent
Start date: 3 September 2020

This is a varied and exciting opportunity offering a high degree of autonomy and flexibility to work with our schools in the London and Thames Valley region.

Whilst working closely with Anthem’s London and Thames Valley schools and the Regional Management Accountant working in the East Midlands, this role will take the lead on the following areas to ensure the production of:

  • budgets and three-year forecasts for each of the schools in the region
  • benchmarking data for the Trust
  • consolidated monthly management accounts and forecasts to the end of the year
  • the investigation and explanation of any significant variances in the accounts
  • audit information requests as required

Reporting into and working closely with the Anthem Head of Finance, this person will play a pivotal role in improving financial performance and will need to work with the financial accounting to team to ensure accurate and timely reporting.  Some travel will be required however the use of digital communication platforms is encouraged.

We are looking for a part-qualified accountant with experience of producing budgets and management accounts. You will be a self-starter, capable of working on your own initiative, with the ability to successfully prioritise and adapt quickly to changing priorities and requirements. In addition to having a flexible, customer-focused approach, you will be a team player and will work closely with colleagues and other stakeholders to help Anthem achieve its objectives.

You will be studying towards ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent and have a strong grounding in management accounts and budget preparation. Experience of school finances is desirable but not essential. You will also need a driving licence and car as some of our schools are not easily accessible by public transport.
