School Governor at All Saints Junior School

Would you like to help make a positive contribution to children’s education? Come and join our Local Governing Body as a School Governor at All Saints Junior School.

All Saints Junior School in Reading is part of Anthem, an education charity that runs a group of state-funded primary and secondary schools to give children a better future. Our schools work in collaboration as one entity to improve and maintain high educational standards, experiences and outcomes across the Trust. Our single legal and moral purpose is to advance education for public benefit.

We are seeking people who are passionate about education and helping young people to join the Local Governing Body of All Saints Junior School on a voluntary basis.

Being a school governor is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It will give you the chance to make a real difference to children and young people, give something back to your local community and use and develop your skills in a board-level environment.

Schools benefit from a range of professional knowledge on their governing board including education, special educational needs, finance, human resources, legal, marketing and public relations, property and estates management, and organisational change. We also benefit from governors who don’t have these skills but will have the life experiences and ability to be a ‘critical friend’ as part of the Governing Body. There is no requirement for you to have an understanding of the education system to contribute. There is plenty of training available to help you. Teamwork, enthusiasm and the ability to ask questions, listen and learn also play a big part.

As a Local Governor, you would be expected to commit to:

  • Four meetings a year during the school day, complete school visits approximately three times a year and take an interest in the school and its pupils.

  • Be part of panels as needed;

  • Attend relevant training.

Selection is based on the completion of an application form and skills audit, meeting the Chair of the Local Governing Body and the Headteacher followed by a short interview with the Anthem Education Director.

If you are interested in this voluntary role, please complete the application form and skills audit below and return to the forms to our All Saints Junior School clerk: ka_fielding@hotmail.com by 8th July 2022.

For an informal conversation, please email ka_fielding@hotmail.com and someone will be in touch to answer any queries you may have.
