Become a Trustee

Our Trustees are responsible for holding Anthem’s leadership to account. They ensure clarity of vision and strategic direction, hold each school to account for its educational performance and ensure that financial resources are allocated effectively and deliver maximum value.

The role of Trustee is voluntary, requiring a minimum commitment of one term of service, lasting four years, with the option to continue for an additional four-year term. Trustees attend a combination of full board and committee meetings, and visits to schools.

Become an Anthem Community Council Member

Make a difference in your community...

At Anthem, we have changed the way governance works in our schools, replacing traditional governing bodies with Anthem Community Councils. This is where local people come in... We need local expertise and partnerships, to ensure each school's individual context is known, understood, and celebrated - and is at the heart of its community.

By volunteering as a Community Council member at your local Anthem school, you can help shape the lives of young people in your area.

What’s in it for you?

Anthem Community Councils (ACCs) are local advisory committees, not local governing boards. So, Anthem Community Council members are not ‘governors’ in the traditional sense. Instead, they have the freedom to focus on providing local feedback, assurance and connection, and reflecting the ‘lived experience’ of students, parents, staff and the community.

As an Anthem Community Council member, you get to play an essential role in shaping the education children need without spending hours discussing budgets, boilers and bureaucracy!

Do you want to make a difference?

If you are passionate about contributing to your community and are interested in finding out more about being part of your school’s ACC, we would love to hear from you!

Join our Resolutions Team

We are looking for experienced governance professionals/educationalists who want to use their expertise where it really matters. Our Resolutions Team will provide a pool of trained and available individuals who can serve on Governor Disciplinary Committees (GDCs), HR Hearings, and Complaint Panel Hearings.

As a member of Anthem’s Resolutions Team, you will:

  • Receive specialist, training in exclusions and complaints.

  • Build confidence by sitting on panels from a different perspective.

  • Make a direct, meaningful impact for children, families and schools.

  • Help shape good governance practice across the sector.

  • Expand your professional network, working alongside experienced leaders and trustees.

We’ve designed the Resolutions Team in response to real sector challenges: capacity pressures, legal timeframes, and the need to support both the capacity and wellbeing of our governance volunteers. This is a trust‑wide commitment, with full Board approval, clear terms of reference, and strong ongoing support.

Training will take place in summer 2026, with the team going live from September.

Members are typically asked to sit on around three panels a year, offering flexibility alongside impact.
